Urania
While coming out and working as a grants writer on a trans documentary in 2020, I discovered Urania. This serial, small-circulation publication written in early 1900s England explored experiences of non-binary and trans identity and philosophy throughout the Uneasy Decades and the start of the Second World War. Under the NYU Gallatin Dean's Summer Grant, I traveled to London to view the documents at the London School of Economics and performed a qualitative and quantitative analysis of the texts and the editors in hope of gaining understanding in the emergence of trans medicine and identity in that era.
